Almost everyone knows that Thomas Jefferson as the primary author of the Declaration of Independence was ably assisted in the editing and writing by Benjamin Franklin and John Adams. Lesser known are the two other members of the “Committee of Five,” Founding Fathers Robert Livingston of New York and Roger Sherman of Connecticut. Renowned historian and member of the Guide Association of New York City (GANYC), Kevin Draper, will discuss the contributions of these two figures to the Declaration of Independence and their other contributions to our fledgling Nation.
